'Post-Truth' and Pedagogy in English Language Education

The power of language to shape, sway, and dominate everyday thoughts through emotional and ideological appeals is not a new concept. The recent upswing in use of the term “post-truth”, however, has brought the notion of power, generally, and linguistic power, more specifically, to a new height of societal consciousness and has spurred wide-spread (re-)action at levels unprecedented. If BC TEAL is our name, and language is our game, what, then, are our roles and responsibilities in a time of “post-truth”, and what are the implications for critically engaged praxis in our EAL classrooms?
