Literature continues to dominate many K-12 and post-secondary language-learning pathways for ELLs in Canada. In this session, we will explore together some of the troubling historical roots, limitations, and implications of this focus on literature in language teaching, with implications for the adoption and expansion of CLB vs. CEFR.


Seonaigh MacPherson

University of the Fraser Valley
Seonaigh MacPherson is Head of Adult Education and TESL at the University of the Fraser Valley. She recently completed a Government of Canada report on the CLB vs. CEFR. Seonaigh was the Lead Curriculum Designer of the ESL Pathways project at VCC.
